Lettering and the Restoration of
a Renaissance
Wall Painting at Pardubice Castle
As part of the renovation of Pardubice Castle, several exhibition spaces for visitors are being prepared. One element of the architectural concept by Ing. Petr Všetečka involved the creation of wall paintings and hand-lettering work, which I had the opportunity to contribute to.
This included large-scale inscriptions and paintings spanning several meters, where it was essential to follow the established graphic manual. At the same time, in the reconstruction of floral motifs, the work also required an individual artistic approach, carried out with sensitivity to the historical context of the building.
The typeface I worked with comes from the Czech type foundry Suitcase Type Foundry, specifically cuts from the Tabac type family. The work was documented by Jakub Jacko.
